Release2010 is a Christian healing conference hosted by the LoveBristol Community, taking place on the 19-21 May 2010 at The Colston Hall in Bristol with Bill Johnson, Mark Stibbe and many more speakers and contributors. We're aiming to gain momentum on the already growing healing movement across our culture and beyond by hosting this conference with revelatory teaching, breakout sessions, as well as opportunities to try healing on the streets. Then, we're going to end on a high note in true 'Kingdom Culture' style with a late night Worship Party on the last evening. But first, here's a bit about who the LoveBristol Community is:
The Vision
What would the world look like if the fullness of the kingdom was released? What would the cities of this country look like if healing and hope flowed counter to addiction and poverty? More to the point, what if the Christians sought to actively show the world what community-centred urban regeneration could achieve. Healing is required in so many areas - our bodies, our relationships, our politics and our economics. We believe revolution is on the agenda - a movement of Gods people healing sickness, hearts, families, communities, cities and nations. The LoveBristol Community is a small community of passionate followers who are committed to being a part of this revolution. We're trying, failing, and then trying again to live intentionally in order to bring some love and light into - Stokes Croft; where art and creativity coexist with our city's highest levels of addiction and homelessness. If we are to see a healing revolution grip the United Kingdom we know that its going to take everyone in the body of Christ to fulfil their part. In our May conference we are excited to merge the streams of Bethel Church and The Father House Trust, along with representatives from Teen Challenge, 24-7 prayer, prophetic voices, edgy street ministries and local pastors to see if together we can release a mighty river of Gods healing power.
The Reality
Across the UK groups of Christians are forming street prayer teams in numbers never seen before. Faith is rising. Subversive Christian groups are breaking out of church buildings and and becoming potent communities of light. We know we're not alone in being gripped by this passion. It's an exciting time to be alive!
Our heart is to offer everyone an opportunity to join us in May for Release2010 and our hope is to see every church in the region represented.
The Prophetic Background
The dream of this conference comes from many sources, and we feel it's on God's heart too. Here we have a bit of a story to tell and it involves The Wesleys and the year 1771.
One of our leaders had a dream in which she inherited Bristol as a ‘House' for many to live and thrive in. As part of this dream, she encountered a secret wine cellar and picked out a dusty bottle of red wine with the label reading 1771. We were intrigued.
Some creative Googling later, we found out that in 1771 the most significant Methodist conference was held in Bristol by Wesley and Whitfield, where a young man by the name of Francis Asbury came and got so impacted that he signed up to take this move of God to America. Asbury founded the Methodist movement that spread across the United States. We believe this conference is timely. 1771 is also the first date recorded in Methodist church history of a formal recognition of the baptism in the spirit, and the pursuit of a lifestyle of hosting God's presence and seeking the miraculous. 1771 has just kept cropping up - for the whole story visit release2010.org/about/prophetic/
