An increasing number of students are expressing a desire to put their faith into action and make a difference in our society. Sometimes student life and Christian fellowship can become detached from some of the needy communities around us. The Sea Mills area is the nearest such community to the Stoke Bishop Halls.

Highgrove Church was planted with the help of a student team in 1983 and since then has grown and planted out again to Henleaze and Woodlands. It has been an exciting and challenging place for students to serve and grow in their faith.

There are lots of opportunities for students to get involved with children, youth, worship, outreach and practical care as well as enjoying a friendly family atmosphere among lots of local people with a heart for living and serving their community.

You may choose to join one of the existing homegroups at Highgrove or be part of a Highgrove cell group that links in with the student pastorate.

Being part of the Woodlands student community

Alongside all the activities available to students at Highgrove, we also encourage you to be part of the broader student community of the Woodlands group of churches. This might include:

  • Innovate: A chance, after the evening service, to meet other students, eat cake, drink drinks and quiz the evening speaker.
  • Pastorate: The main gathering point of Woodlands students, where you eat, worship and learn to do life together. Every other Tuesday night.
  • Lunches: Monday and Friday all term 1-2pm in the crypt at Woodlands. Cheap, chilled and cheerful lunch open to all students.
  • Internationals: Woodlands also has an internationals group.
